  1、 Material warehouse requirements

  1. Maintain a clean and unobstructed area of the material warehouse, away from the generation of harmful gases or dust. Weeds and all debris should be removed from the site to keep the steel clean

  2. Materials that are corrosive to steel, such as acid, alkali, salt, cement, etc., shall not be stacked together in the warehouse. Different types of steel should be stacked separately to prevent confusion and prevent contact corrosion

  3. Large section steel, steel rails, steel plates, large-diameter steel pipes, forgings, etc. can be stacked in the open air

  4. Small and medium-sized steel, wire rods, steel bars, medium diameter steel pipes, steel wires, and wire ropes can be stored in well ventilated material sheds, but must be covered with tarpaulins and padded with mats

  5. Some small steel products, thin steel plates, steel strips, silicon steel sheets, small diameter or thin-walled steel pipes, various cold rolled and drawn steel products, as well as expensive and easily corrosive metal products, must be placed in storage

  6. Pay attention to ventilation on sunny days, turn off moisture on rainy days, and often maintain a suitable storage environment

2、 Reasonable stacking and first in, first out

  1. The principle requirement for stacking is to stack according to varieties and specifications under stable and safe conditions. Different types of materials should be stacked separately to prevent confusion and mutual corrosion

  2. Prohibit storing items that have corrosive effects on steel near the stacking position

  3. The bottom of the stack should be raised, sturdy, and flat to prevent moisture or deformation of the material

  4. The same type of materials are stacked separately according to the order of storage, facilitating the implementation of the principle of first in, first out

  5. The section steel stacked in the open air must have wooden mats or stones underneath, and the stacking surface should be slightly tilted to facilitate drainage. Attention should be paid to placing the materials straight to prevent bending and deformation

  6. The height of the stack shall not exceed 1.2m for manual operations, 1.5m for mechanical operations, and 2.5m for stack width

  7. There should be a certain passage between the stacks, and the inspection passage is generally O.5m. The entry and exit passage depends on the material size and transportation machinery, and is generally 1.5-2.0m

  8. The pile bottom should be raised by 0.1m if the warehouse is on a cement floor in Chaoyang; If it is muddy ground, it must be raised by 0.2-0.5m. If it is an outdoor site, the cement ground should be raised by 0.3-O.5m, and the sand and mud surface should be raised by 0.5-O.7m

  9. The angle steel and channel steel stacked in the open air should be placed vertically, with the mouth facing downwards. The I-shaped steel should be placed vertically, and the I-groove surface of the steel should not be facing upwards to prevent water accumulation and rust.

3、 Maintain warehouse cleanliness and strengthen material maintenance

  1. Before storing materials, attention should be paid to preventing them from getting soaked or mixed with impurities. Materials that have already been soaked or contaminated should be wiped clean using different methods according to their properties, such as using a wire brush for high hardness materials, and cloth, cotton, and other materials for low hardness materials

  2. After the materials are stored in the warehouse, they should be inspected regularly. If there is rust, the rust layer should be removed

  3. Generally, after the surface of steel is cleaned, there is no need to apply oil. However, for high-quality steel, alloy thin steel plates, thin-walled pipes, alloy steel pipes, etc., after rust removal
